Post Commander - Marines

I joined the United States Marine Corps in Oct. 1966. After a brief period stationed in Washington DC with Marine Barracks Henderson Hall I volunteered and received orders for Vietnam. Assigned to 1st Battalion 9th Marines, "The Walking Dead" as a rifleman, radio operator, machine gunner I served in combat operations along the DMZ to include the Battle for Con Thien and the Siege at Khe Sanh.

Wounded twice in combat I was transferred to Combined Action Group and trained and fought beside Vietnamese Popular Force soldiers in Northern I Corps, Vietnam. Returning home to the US in Sept. 1968

Serving after Vietnam as a squad leader and section leader in various infantry and parachute units and as a recruit Drill Instructor until Nov. 1971
